Improve You

In As a Man Thinketh by James Allen, Allen wrote, “Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves.”

This is a great quote. It speaks about a key issue for many people and success. You need to improve. Most people want to improve their circumstances. We all want a better paying job, save more money, a bigger house.  We want to lose weight, have a better car or better health. But many people are unwilling to sacrifice, to do the work that it takes to improve their circumstances.

There are those who think that a better job, or more money or any improvement of their circumstances should be easy or simple.  I think it goes back to the idea that many people are lazy and do not realize that anyone can improve their circumstance if they will work hard and are willing to improve themselves.  That story is repeated every day in this country. A person gets more education and is willing to work harder than the person next to them.  Study another language, learn another skill, some way somehow improve themselves and then they improve their life.  This happens every day  and yet there are still a lot of people who have not learned this great lesson. They continue to sit on their couch watching mindless TV and eat potato chips hoping their life will improve.  They want something better; they want to be something better.  They hope it happens someday, They hope they win the lottery.  Hope is not a strategy.  Stop hoping your circumstances will change and get up off the couch and be willing to improve yourself.  You want better, be better.  You want paid more money, be worth more. You want a better life, change you.  Don’t be one of the many people in this world who want something better but are unwilling to improve themselves to get it.

The sooner you learn this important life lesson, the sooner you will be on the road to success.  Don’t be that person who sits around and hopes, be a doer.  Don’t be a dreamer, be a person of action and execution.  Don’t let your life philosophy be coulda, shoulda, woulda. Let it be said of you that you are a person of action, one who improves, always striving to be better. If you are willing to improve yourself, you will Be Successful.
